Kearney Ward Reassigned to New Stake
After two years Kearney Ward is welcomed back to the Far West Stake; Leaders in both stakes speak about growth and trusting in the Lord
A special meeting was held on Sunday, January 19, 2025, to discuss boundary changes to the Liberty Missouri Stake.
“When you live in an area like we do with tremendous growth, there is change,” President Rudi Garcia said before announcing any changes.
The Kearney Ward will be transferred from the Liberty Missouri Stake to the Far West Missouri Stake. A few from the Rush Creek Ward will also be moving into the Fishing River Ward in the Far West Missouri Stake.
Members in ward callings in the Kearney Ward will continue to hold their current callings. Those affected in stake callings will be released. The Kearney Ward will continue to meet in the Kearney building at 1:30 pm, and the new members of the Fishing River Ward will also meet in the Kearney building at 12 pm.
“We are so grateful to all of you for your service in your ward and stake callings; your dedication to the Lord, to one another and to your callings,” President Michael Beach, Liberty Missouri Stake, said. “I am so grateful that I was able to serve as your stake president, even for this short period of time.”
“One thing that is certain in the Church is change. It doesn’t seem like it wasn’t very long ago when the Kearney Ward became part of the Liberty Stake again. Sometimes we don’t understand the mind of the Lord, but all things are done with a purpose. Each life was blessed….your lives, our lives. There is purpose in all of this.”
President David Mayne, First Counselor in the Far West Missouri Stake, welcomed the Kearney Ward back and the new members of the Fishing River Ward.
“We welcome you back,” Pres. Mayne said, choking back tears talking about the Kearney Ward.
Pres. Mayne likened this new stake boundary change to the two-hour block change of church meetings a few years back.
“I won’t be distracted by the logistical changes, I will rejoice. I’m curious about the miracles that have taken place as the Kearney Ward was in the Liberty Stake, and I’m even more curious what miracles will occur in the coming years as they are back in the Far West Stake.”
“There’s lots of feelings and emotions, but this is God’s work. It is directly by our Father in Heaven and his son Jesus Christ.”
