Group plans "meeting place" and activities

Chelsea Reeve, ASL Group Leader/YW Sec (Kellybrook Ward)

Group met on January 11, 2025 at the Liberty Stake Center for Deaf Bingo. The group brought together both deaf and hearing.

Hello everyone! We just had a wonderful Deaf BINGO night in January with 33 people in attendance. It was fun, entertaining and a wonderful opportunity to meet new friends!

We are also having so much fun in our weekly ASL class and would love to invite you to join us! We have created a new curriculum and will be providing an eight-week beginners ASL class starting Thursday, February 13, 2025. We will be learning the ABCs, introductions, lots of new vocabulary and fun games along with some homework assignments to help us keep the knowledge we are learning weekly in class. The goal is to help you confidently learn as much ASL in a short period of time. Even if you cannot attend every week, we would love to have you there when you are available! We meet at the stake center every Thursday at 7:00 pm in the Relief Society Room. We are so excited to learn from our missionaries and from ASL interpreters. We are currently learning a song that we will perform for an Easter celebration in April. We have about 25 people of all ages attend, so if you have any interest at all, we welcome you to join us!

We are also hosting a Deaf Potluck Dinner after the ASL session of the temple on Saturday, February 8, 2025, from 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm at the Stake Center. If you plan to attend, please bring some food to share with everyone. The church will be open at 3:45 pm for those attending the session so you can drop off your food before the temple session. Once again, we hope to see you there!
