Lori Garcia, Stake Communications Director (Hodge Park Ward)

Elder Jake Gough returned home on March 18, 2025, from two-years in the Brazil Cape Verde Mission where he spoke Portuguese.
“A mission was the best gift that God could have given me,” Gough said. “It was an amazing experience of triumph and trials.”
During his homecoming talk, Gough talked about several different experiences he had on his mission, some dangerous, some uplifting, but all faith promoting.
“I’ve seen the Lord heal a 5-year-old girl, and I’ve seen the Lord heal me.”
One time Gough recounted being questioned by some scary people on the street.
“I relied on the Lord through faith and prayer,” Gough said. “I am grateful that he watches out for his missionaries.”
Gough, the second of two missionaries from his family, is currently a member of the North Brook Park Ward, but planning to attend the YSA.
A tag doesn’t necessarily make you a missionary,” Gough said. “All you need to do is act and invite. Anyone can be a missionary.”
