Emergencies can stem from personal issues or conflict. A broken relationship can hurt so much, our pain and sorrow keep us from moving forward. Often, these things happen in our lives not by chance, but because God is letting them happen, because there is something we need to do or do differently.
Once while working with a bishop to help a sister whose financial situation was destroyed after a divorce, I learned a truth about how God works with us to improve us. As the bishop helped her form a new budget, his focus was not simply the finances. Through inspiration, he helped this dear sister “face her finances.” Getting a clear understanding of the true state of this one aspect of her life, enabled her to change what else she needed to change and move forward.
We cannot always repair a broken relationship. But the spiritual preparation we make can help us survive these trials. God’s solutions are clear. Come to Him. Turn your life over to Him. Repent now. Try to do better.
Don’t be afraid to make the change God is asking you to make. The youth of the church are focused on D&C 6:36 in 2025. “Doubt Not, Fear Not.” President Hinckley and President Nelson have both used D&C 38:30 to urge us that “If we are Prepared, we shall not fear.”
We pray for all who are suffering over the loss of a relationship. Please trust that Jesus knows who you are and your situation. Ask Him to take on the pains you feel. Trust Him.
We love you and send love from the stake leaders.
