New Spanish Branch Announced
Sunday, June 30, 2024, will go down as a historic day for the Liberty Missouri Stake and its Spanish-speaking members. The first all-Spanish unit, the San Rafael Branch, was created during the North Brook Park Ward’s sacrament meeting at the Stake Center, with President Rudi Garcia speaking in Spanish directly to those new branch members. Hector Acosta Capetillo will serve as the branch president with Samuel Carpentier Flores as first counselor and Christopher Seonane as second counselor.
The Spanish branch was created to fulfill the need for those in the stake whose first language was Spanish. At first the native Spanish speakers of the stake were asked to gather in the North Brook Park Ward where they would sit together and listen to translators.
“I’m so happy with the new Spanish branch,” Carmen Vega of the North Brook Park Ward said. “For me it’s a blessing that I can listen to the Gospel of my Savior in my own language.”
Many, like Second Counselor Christopher Seonane of the Hodge Park Ward were grateful to be part of the Gospel spreading in the stake.
“It has been marvelous to see how everyone has had the desire to gather together to strengthen our faith in Jesus Christ,” Seonane said. “To see how the members share the gospel and to be a witness of the growth of the great work of the Lord in this part of the vinyard has brought me much joy!”
The idea for the “Gathering Place” and now the branch came when members of our stake spoke up about the need.
“We were approached by a couple of families that were native Spanish speakers letting us know of the need for a place where those who spoke Spanish felt welcome and could understand the things being taught,” President Garcia, whose first language was also Spanish, said. “It was incredible to see how many people attended the first social event, then the ‘Gathering Place’ in Shoal Creek Valley, now North Brook Park. It’s not only about the language, but about the sense of community. It is such a blessing for our stake.”
Starting Sunday, July 8, 2024, the San Rafael Branch will meet in the Clayview Building, starting with “Second Hour” aka Sunday School and Young Mens/Young Womens/Relief Society/Priesthood at 12:40 pm. All the adult classes in the branch –Sunday School, Relief Society and Priesthood– will be in Spanish. The Primary and Youth programs will meet with the Rush Creek Ward. Sacrament in Spanish will follow at 1:40 pm in the chapel.

Anunciada nueva Rama en Español
El Domingo 30 de Junio de 2024 será recordado como un día histórico para la Estaca Liberty, Missouri y sus miembros de habla hispana. La primera unidad en español, la Rama San Rafael, fue creada durante la reunión sacramental del Barrio North Brook Park en el Centro de Estaca. El presidente Rudi García dirigió su mensaje en español a los miembros de la nueva rama. El hermano Héctor Acosta Capetillo fue llamado como presidente de la rama junto con Samuel Carpentier Flores, como primer consejero y Christopher Seoane como segundo consejero.
El deseo de tener un lugar donde reunirse y de formar una rama surgió cuando los miembros hispanos de nuestra estaca expresaron las necesidades que existían en esta comunidad.
“Dos familias cuyo primer idioma era español, se acercaron y nos hicieron saber la necesidad de tener un lugar donde pudieran entender y participar más plenamente de las cosas que se enseñaban”, dijo el presidente García, cuyo primer idioma también es el español. “Fue increíble ver cuántas personas asistieron al primer evento social en diciembre pasado. Los hermanos mostraron el mismo entusiasmo para reunirse en el barrio Shoal Creek Valley y después en North Brook Park. Ambos barrios fueron asignados como el “gathering place” o lugar de reunión donde los miembros hispanos se sentaban juntos y escuchaban la reunión sacramental con la ayuda de un equipo de traducción. No se trata solo del idioma, sino del sentido de comunidad. Ha sido una gran bendición para nuestros miembros” comento el presidente.
La rama Hispana se creó para cubrir la necesidad que esos miembros de la estaca tenían de comunicarse en su idioma natal. “Estoy muy feliz con la nueva rama en español”, dijo la hermana Carmen Vega, del barrio North Brook Park. “Para mí es una bendición poder escuchar el evangelio de mi Salvador en mi propio idioma.”
El hermano Christopher Seoane también expreso, “Ha sido maravilloso ver como todos han tenido el deseo de reunirse y fortalecer su fe en el Señor Jesucristo. ¡Ver a los miembros compartiendo el evangelio y ser testigo del crecimiento de la obra del Señor en esta parte de la viña me ha traído mucha felicidad!”
A partir del domingo 8 de Julio del 2024, la rama San Rafael se reunirá en el edificio de Clayview, en Liberty, MO. Los servicios dominicales empezaran a las 12:40 pm con escuela dominical para Hombres y Mujeres Jóvenes, Primaria, Sociedad de Socorro y Sacerdocio. Solamente los adultos tendrán sus clases en español. Las organizaciones de Mujeres y Hombres Jóvenes y la Primaria se unirán con el barrio Rush Creek. A la 1:40 tendrá lugar la reunión sacramental en español.
